BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS

CLOSING IN - NINE BAR

This is actually titled as Closing In (Richard Sen Remix). Unfortunately, there is absolutely no information on the lineup that I can see. But I suspect it could be another band that features Paul Eve, the man behind Marble Bar Records who first came to my attention as Regal of The Wiseguys, as well as being 50% of Bronx Dogs with Richard Sen a few years later.

I have..... just discovered one very interesting thing about this release (to me anyway), Keith Tenniswood of Two Lone Swordsmen is credited as the engineer on this release.🤯

PREPARE TO QUALIFY - BRONX DOGS

As just stated 50% Paul Eve and 50% Richard Sen.

I initially came across the Bronx Dogs releases by picking up the the very first Battlecreak ep on Illicit, a genius way of introducing several different Breakbeat artists to the uninitiated planetmeech.

When I found out that they were Regal of The Wiseguys and Richard Sen, I was suitably feeling extremely pleased with my purchase. The latter being a DJ who produced one of my favourite mix tapes from a few years earlier.

TOURNAMENT KING - FORTY DOG

Sounding very much like the kind of thing you'd expect to here on DC Recordings, and would not have been out of place on the recent MEECH'S DC4. This however, is a relatively later release on Marble Bar, and I think was from the set up in the Southern Hemisphere.

FINE MUTHA F***A - SENOR FLUFF

From a 12" album sampler for the above release.

ROCK THE RECORD - RESIN DOGS

More beats from the land of barbeque.

This is actually a remix by Kenny Dope Gonzalez.

LET ME HEAR YOU CLAP YOUR HANDS - NICK FABER

I used the B-side of this 12" to close out my first ever vinyl mix

90 MINUTE SHOWDOWN, which is completely different to this entry, and not like anything else in this project at all.

212 (THE WAYA FUNK) - BRONX DOGS

Pretty much a double A-side with 313 (TRUE FEELING), I think I may have entered the names in reverse when I completed my initial digital transfer in the days of the early iPod. Both iTunes and Shazam list these with the opposite titles to each other, but listening to them now, I think I've assigned the correct names according to the samples used.

RETRO FAILURE - OMEGA AMOEBA

I'm sorry, I'm unable to find out anything about this, and I'm only aware of it as a result of the Marble Bar compilation At The End Of The Universe.

QUESY LISTENING - MAD DOCTOR X

Placed here to bring the curtain down on the first side.

LASER CAZALS - THE WISEGUYS

This may be the only official release by The Wiseguys that doesn't appear on Wall Of Sound, then it has to feature in this mix for that reason alone. I wasn't too familiar with Laser Cazals, and just assumed they were an incredibly fly vintage pair of Adidas. It turns out that Laser Cazals where the type of eyewear favoured by Run DMC and other similarily attired B-Boys.

THE LOAN SLOAN'S ESCAPE FROM ARTHURCEY PARK - SHOCKNAMAZE

Another call back to my 90 MINUTE BREAKsDOWN mix, and it really is very strange that I've waited this long to transfer a whole 90 minute show to digital.

My earliest show to feature a Marble Bar release was P MINUS ONE, almost 130 shows ago. I'm astonished how this has remained in my blindspot for such a long time.

OUTLANDISH & UNUSUAL - OMEGA AMOEBA

As above, but this time because of Marbles Volume One.

B-BOY CONTORTIONIST - IDIOT PROOF

I wonder how a mix would go down with just B-Boy related titles?

Bother, one of my favourite tracks has already been used on the 90 MINUTE BREAKsDOWN mix.

WALKING - RHIBOSOME

One more band from Down Under, and I may have read somewhere

hat this is an actual band, and not your usual DJ setup.

SHOCK ROCK - RICHARD SEN

Fortunately, Richard Sen is still active on Mixcloud and is still introducing me to incredibly interesting and diverse music from all walks of life, helping to fill the void of the sorely missed Andrew Weatherall.

VEGETABLE WILL RESPOND TO YOU - SUPERDENSE CHILD

I wonder how a mix would go down with just vegatable related titles?

Superdense Child provided me with a very welcome update of the Grange Hill theme that I used on WHAT'S IN THE AIR planetmeech.

THE ISTRILLION JOB - NINE BAR

This always puts me in a very good frame of mind, I did try putting it towards the start of the mix, but very happy with the final order.

COSMOS - BRONX DOGS

The spoken verses are from a Karl Sagan intro that keeps cropping up in my Twitter feed, I think somebody must be listening...

The link to this will take you to the CD version, but I'm pretty sure I have it on vinyl somewhere. I can't seem to locate a purchase link at the moment either, despite the Discogs listings for Marble Bar being limited to just 30 entries. It looks as though this was only available on the CD version of the album, but I have a feeling it featured on a 12" album sampler ahead of the Enviro lp release.

I used People Of The Universe from the same l.p. to open my 90 MINUTE BEATsDOWN vinyl mix, which also utilizes Superdense Child (above).

*I'm still listening to the April 2021 show by Richard Sen, and loving it!
