AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST

BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS

UNKNOWN DRONE - WRITHING SQUARES

The crazy sleeve attracted me at first to this album (click the link above).

Upon listening to this track, I immediately new that it should be opening a future show.

SPECIES OF THE POD - DREXCIYA

Futuristic Fantasy Techno from Detroit...'get in there'.

CARDBOARD LAMB (VITALIC MIX) - CRASH COURSE IN SCIENCE

This sounds like the sort of thing that could be put together as part of an art project (I've just checked , and I think it probably was.....initially?

BLACK HOLE - KELLY POLAR

Following on with the 80's retro feel and continuing in the same vein.

ALL OF THE ABOVE - THE PHENOMENAL HANDCLAP BAND

Most of the above.

BLOOZE TRACKS - TRANSIT KINGS

I'm sure that I've mentioned in the past, that every now and then, I come across a track that I listen to repeatedly because I think that it's just SO GOOD!

Here we are with the perfect example.

It should come as no surprise to the listener, that Transit Kings is connected in some way to The Orb. In fact, it's a collaboration by the founding members - Jimmy Cauty and Alex Patterson.

I think this current section of tracks fit together exceptionally well, and I'm very pleased with the outcome.

BRING IT (FEAT. WHAT WHAT) - THE HERBALISER

This could have been held over for MEECH'S NINJA CUTS 4, but the mix is very satisfying.

JUNE - GIZELLE SMITH

This is the kind of record that used to get played at Turnmills and other similar nightspots I used to attend.

SHACK UP (TOUCHE MIX) - BANBARA

As above.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to locate a link at the moment for this particular mix.

However, I have provided a link for the original version which is included on an album that  I've only just discovered as i write these notes.

I'm afraid that I'll have to cut this short and go and listen to this very promising looking collection of songs....

STRANGE HILL - SUPER DENSE CHILD

I've been trying to get this included in a project ever since buying the Marble Bar 12" many Earth years ago. I still have notes that include this when I was putting together the 90 MINUTE BEATsDOWN & BREAKsDOWN nearly twenty years ago. It should have really featured on THE PANIC DIMENSION, but was discarded for being a bit too whimsical. It manages to slot in here though because of my association with these last few tracks, and acts as a good round up of the first half.

THE MOTHER ROAD - CHELSEA WOLFE

This was an Apple Music recommendation that didn't quite make it onto THE PANIC DIMENSION, but works here as the 'partition' of the show.

PLANETOID - SCAPE ONE

Bringing things back to the un/familiar.

EXTRA - KEN ISHII

Another track that I'd previously recorded from a V.H.S copy of the music video.

I particularily liked this because the music video featured Manga action, and I was a big fan of Akira at the time.

'Darn It', I've just discovered a Luke Slater mix of this, I think I'll be adding that to a future project...

RIDE - CYBOTRON

A solid example of early Electronic music.

ROBOP - RECLOOSE

Removed from 90 MINUTE ELECTRO BREAKDOWN at a very late stage due to the slower groove, but manages to tie everything together here really well.

BOOGIE CHILD - BEE GEES

I'm a huge fan of certain periods of the Bee Gee. Annoyingly for me, I'd only ever acquired a compilation album of really early recordings, and the second best selling soundtrack of all time.

There is still quite a bit of material waiting for me to discover...

RIGHT NOW - BILLY PRESTON

Quite a few people over the years have been labelled as the 'Fifth Beatle', I would probably give that accolade to George Martin, but Billy Preston has also been recognised as a worthy contributor to the magic of The Beatles.

HARD MARGIN (FEAT. MOS DEF & TALIB KWELI) - THE CREATORS

I first came across the Creators through Bad Magic, the Wall Of Sound Hip Hop imprint. This track jumped out at me, as I'd been listening to quite a bit on Rawcus Records, who these guest vocalists have been associated with.

Get ready for MEECH'S RAWCUS 4.

One of the tactics I use to combat my poor memory, is to place everyday objects out of context, or placing non everyday objects in very prominent locations.

At the very beginning of this Internet phase of my compilation creating, I selected several 12"s to sit on view in my living room. The Creators were at the front of this stack, so I can now return the record back to it's regular home.

*I'm still trying to remember why I placed a can of beans on the fireplace??

TAKIN' IT BACK - KOOL KEITH & KUTMASTA KURT

Quite a cool offering that I've plucked from my ever growing catalogue of Kool Keith side(?) projects.

NEXT LEVELS - KING GEEDORAH

I immediately jumped to the conclusion that the name was inspired by Japanese monster movies?

It may be a stretch though to include it on TOKYO CALLING planetmeech, which is in the pipeline...

INSIDE MY LOVE - MINNIE RIPPERTON

Dr. Alex was keen to use a bit of Minnie, and so was I, after recognising that this had been sampled by a fair amount of music that you'd expect to find in the 'Beats' section of the record store.
