METAL MACHINE VICTIMS - BLASTROMEN
Setting the tone with this high energy dark vision of technology.
CELESTIAL 4 - JENSEN INTERCEPTOR & ASSEMBLER CODE
This record sounds like something you'd expect to hear coming from Detroit around thirty years ago, but is actually very recent (2019) and originally coming from Australia, but on the Satamile Records NYC label.
If you want to know what a Jensen Interceptor is? I highly recommend that you click this link to see the coolest car to ever come out of West Bromich.
This was part of a Dave Clarke Electro mix that I used to listen to repeatedly in the car around the time that I would drive back and forth, to and from London on a weekly basis. Originally earmarked for inclusion on NO LEGS 90, but the total running time of my first digital compilation was over six hours.
If you've listened to my first few shows, then you'll know that I was keen to squeeze in the Bronx Dogs wherever I could. I was quite pleased to hear something a little different from Richard Sen and Paul Eve, who were both key figures at the clubs and parties I used to go to a few years back. As a result, this was the very first record selected for my Electro project.
Another great tune from the Electro centric Satamile Records NYC.
Check the link to see if these guys are down with the 'Retro Future' vibe?
Glad to hear that the Beats match up to my expectation.
TIME SPACE TRANSMAT - MODEL 500
Juan Atkins/Model 500 probably helped create the 'vibe' mentioned above.
This really makes me think of Kyle Reece (Michael Biehn) running through an 80's imagined future wasteland, clutching his tattered picture of Sarah Connor...
A darker, harder slice of Electro, fitting in with the Terminator feel and the problems the Human Race will face at the hands of rampaging technology?
On a cheerier note, another class act that appear on Satamile Records NYC .
Fitting in seamlessly with all the more recent selections, there is still room for these Masters of the Detroit Techno scene.
DIMENSIONAL GLIDE - TRANSLUSSION
Sounding slightly more European than everything else, but still fitting the Electro feel of the overall project. There was a time when the Tresor record label (Germany) was very prominent in my life, but James Marcel Stinson/Translussion 'was' actually from Detroit.
More scientific led retro Beats from Satamile Records NYC.
I'm very pleased with the record sleeve depicting the bit of kit that EMS uses as the Sputnik satellite orbiting the Earth.
More 'Pulsating Dark Synth Beats', this time from Europe , as opposed to Michigan.
FUTURE TECHNOLOGY VOL.1 - MANDROID
I wonder which came first? The chosen musical style and direction, or calling themselves Mandroid???
This act on the German label, Maschinen Muzik, slot in rather well with the overall pessimistic feel of the horrors of a machine led existance.
I get the feeling, judging from the record sleeve and the track title, Down Rocks may have just been watching District 9?
Gerald Donald/Dopplereffect another figure on the Detroit Techno scene, also appeared on the above mentioned Dave Clarke mix, and has recorded with James Marcel Stinson as Drexciya. More to come on future shows hopefully.
Another alias of James Marcel Stinson, and fitting in quite well at the end.
The Machines will return........
