THEN PLEASE
THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE
IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR
THE LOVE OF MUSIC
AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST
BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS
I think I can hear a bit of Steve Reich sampled here.
Tycoon To$h or Toshio Nakanishi, who unfortunately passed away in 2017, was the undisputed pioneer, and the Godfather of the scene. But all credit for introducing this avenue of music to the U.K., must go to James Lavelle.
I used to buy a lot of the stuff Mo'Wax was releasing around the late 90's, so the link up with Major Force would prove beneficial to my listening habits.
LOVE & PEACE - TYCOON TO$H & TERMINATOR TROOPS
A slightly more 'traditional' sounding Hip Hop record.
I'm always tempted to select something by The Orchids whenever I'm compiling a new mixed genre compilation, I think I was probably holding off though for this.
BED JAM SESSION - TYCOON TO$H & TERMINATOR TROOPS
A bit of old school turntable trickery to link the records.
RETURN OF THE ORIGINAL ARTFORM - HIROSHI + K.UD.O. FEAT. DJ MILO
If Tycoon To$h was the 'Major Force' in Japan, Hiroshi may have been the very first Japanese Hip Hop DJ, and this stood out amongst the 5 L.P.
'ORIGINAL ARTFORM' box set that introduced me to the wonders of Major Force at the tail end of the last millennium.
COPY 88 (U SUCKERS) - TYCOON TO$H & TERMINATOR TROOPS
Always good to be reminded of the premium Blaxploitation soundtrack by
Curtis Mayfield.
WHO POLICE THE POLICE? (K.U.D.O. + KAN REMIX) - TYCOON TO$H
I'm surprised that the lyrics for this got approved for the Japanese vocal.
I suppose, Who Keeps An Eye On The Filth? doesn't really flow?
I have heard clearer pronouncement on other records though, which would suggest that it could be intentional, and the joke is on the non Japanese listener?
CIRCLING ROUND - MAJOR FORCE WEST
I very nearly included this on my P MINUS ONE mix, but decided against using too many tracks with NASA samples.
Tiny Panx Organization are Hiroshi Fujiwara and Takagi Kan, who have both featured in my SHOW, BREAKs and BEATsDOWN shows under different guises.
GUESS WHAT? (REMIX) - TYCOON TO$H & TERMINATOR TROOPS
I must confess to not having seen THE MAN FROM Mo'Wax yet, but it is on my list of films to see, just after Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Anyway, until I see that film, I don't really know a great deal about the various recording artists other than what I can get from the records themselves and my basic Internet searches. As you can expect, finding out anything about Japanese DJ's from the 90's called Terminator Troops, is extremely difficult. My rudimentary searches have uncovered something about Japan developing a Terminator army, which sounds extremely interesting and a little alarming!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just what's needed to bring the first 45 minutes to a close.
This reminds me of Nine Lazy Nine, and therefore, puts me in a very good frame of mind.
NICE GUY (NICE GUITAR DUB BY HIROSHI FUJIWARA) - SCHA DARA PARR
Just what's needed to kick the second 45 minutes off.
Thankfully, I still have memories of spinning this a fair amount in my flat in Greenwich.
Could he be alluding to another alias?
As covered above.
GRASS ROOTS DUB - MAJOR FORCE PRODUCTIONS
Time for the Major Force Super group to take control!
Something as well, for all my friends who are enthusiastic about the wonders of the Organ Sound.
Nice use of the 'sexiest' of all wind instruments, but crucially, not over used.
You'll thank me for not including Sax Hoodlum.
This reminds me of Roy Ayres, I'm guessing at the samples used here, and will have to check at a later date - time consuming stuff this!
........Completely wrong, the soundtrack for Shaft In Africa and The Police ???
I'm sure I can here some Roy Ayres...
Not very complimentary of the neighbours,
I'm hoping Mrs. planetmeech appreciates the Art though.
This particular version was plucked from a future planned show.
LIVE WIRE VOODOO (REMIX) - TYCOON TO$H & TERMINATOR TROOPS
As you can hear from the rhyming, we can gather that To$h is the MC and Terminator Troops are the DJ's?? - no fruitless Internet searches required?
CHINA SYNDROME PT.2 (TYCOON TO$H SELF REMIX) - TYCOON TO$H
I really like the ending of this, and was practically forced to place it here.
