THEN PLEASE
THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE
IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR
THE LOVE OF MUSIC
AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST
BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS
GO AHEAD LONDON - RADIOACTIVE MAN
Well, knock me sideways...
I'd earmarked this for a minimal based mix quite some time ago. The inspiration obviously being Andrew Weatherall. Now that I've started to knock up these notes, I've just found out this very minute that Radioactive Man is in fact a pseudonym for Keith Tenniswood, who is 1 half of Two Lone Swordsmen!
*I feel as though I'm living in one massive computer simulation, and every move and decision has already been programmed well in advance by an extremely advanced race of super beings.
Or, I've been hugely influenced by this style of music for a very long time, making me create my own mix of records that have been grabbing my attention.
I did want to complete this project without selecting anything by Two Lone Swordsmen, but I suppose I've failed with the very first track?
The perfect example of the type of futuristic Disco I was listening to a few years back.
Spacey synth and crooked percussion mapped out by U.S. DJ/Producer Bernard Farley. The album Nebulau was recommended as I'd been listening to similar sounding stuff, and this jumped out at me to include on this project.
This was included in the initial playlist for the 90 MINUTE ELECTRO BREAKDOWN. Part of the process of producing these shows involves whittling down a bulky playlist to a coherent 90 minutes. I realised fairly early on that this tune would be better suited to a Minimal Tech project.
Once I'd decided to go with the Minimal idea, I started to hear things here and there and just added to the ever growing folder.
As above, this manages to make you think though of German pioneers at the forefront of Electronic music, but could be as recent as this year???
HOLOGRAPHIC EMOTION - CARL FINLOW
I know this goes against the spirit of the traditional compilation format by including more than 1 track by the same artist, so I'll present my defence...
*I've only just realised the 'error' while writing up these notes, and to pull off a late switch at this stage (I hope to publish tomorrow), could affect up to 6 different tracks, and I'm quite pleased with the transition between tracks 7 & 8, so even less inclined to alter anything.
*Rules are for schmucks (not necessarily of the Christmas variety), and could/should be broken (only in a planetmeech radio capacity, I'm not condoning getting married to hedgehogs or trees, or doing anything illegal.
*I probably had a big part in creating the 'rules' anyway, so could probably change them at any time and without notice.
*There are two tracks by Prince & The Revolution on -015 PLANETMEECH.
I had never seriously appreciated the fine work of Carl Finlow before, but now as a consequence of writing these extensive notes, I think it will be difficult to NOT think of Carl Finlow while I flick through my music library for inspiration in the future.

There was a time when the Ninja Tune record label was prominently towards the very top my shopping list...
Get ready for the 90 MINUTE DOWNTEMPO BEATsDOWN, to come sometime before all the stores run out of food, and the power supply is turned off for good (The End of the Universe/World/UK/England or my website).
MOOG PORN - MACHINE DRUM & MOCHIPET
Self explanatory!
This was a stand out entry on a Kompakt Records compilation, and immediately identified as the perfect track to close out the first 45 minutes.
I think I've been picking up Jeff Mills records ever since listening to the John Peel Show, and thankfully, have continued to do so well after.
I remember listening to this quite often on my commute to Milton Keynes.
Another 'Digital Refugee' from the 90 MINUTE ELECTRO BREAKDOWN.
Hinting slightly towards the groovier feel of things to come.
DISCO BALL DRAMA - DOWNTOWN PARTY NETWORK
Full on GrooveDown mode now.
EXPANDING IN REPRODUCTION - THE EMPEROR MACHINE
Electronic crazziness from this stand out on DC Recordings.
Not really a refugee from the 90 MINUTE DUB TECHNO RUNDOWN, as it's probably a little too groovy. But I probably would have included it, had it not been used here.
TOUCH FROM THE PAST - SOULPHICTION
Now we're getting Smooth as well as Groovy, but still quite Minimal.
This reminds me a great deal of Moodyman, so will be exploring further...
Following in the same vein, transitioning to a Deep House feel.
