THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE
IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR
THE LOVE OF MUSIC
AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST
BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS
YOU GOT THE STUFF - BILL WITHERS
Kicking off the show with an extreme piece of Funk, but with a definite Disco feel.
COLD AS ICE - PRINCE CHARLES & THE CITY BEAT BAND
Continuing with the more sedate groove.
I did spend quite a bit of time getting these two tracks to integrate, and I'm very pleased with the result.
After easing in with the first two tracks at a steady pace, we start to get down with the familiar club groove.
CHECK OUT THE GROOVE - BOBBY THURSTON
I really like the way these two tracks flow.
No trickery involved, just a case of leaving exactly enough space.
These also flow quite well.
DON'T STOP THE MUSIC - BOMBERS
I came across these two tracks as I was putting together Beyond The Moon, which featured a fair bit of classic Disco.
The guitar craziness gets a little carried away, but the song does help convey the message I was going for.
WHAT THEY'RE DOING DOWNTOWN - SKYBURST
Funk? Disco? Disco/Funk, down town apparently?
YOU GOTTA LET ME SHOW YOU - ESTHER WILLIAMS
I think this may be the most well known track, but I was desperate to include it, and was keen for it to open the second 'half'.
I'll never get tired of listening to this.
ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT - HIGH GLOSS
When I've finished putting all my ideas for shows on the website, I want to start work on plans for a time machine that I have. My first destination would be New York in the 1970's for some serious night club action.
LET'S START THE DANCE - BOHANNON
You may notice that I've had a bit of fun with this as well. I needed to fill a bit of space, so created a loop in the middle, but ended up using it to cut in from the previous track.
These records were probably designed with just that in mind.
SPACE AGE - THE JIMMY CASTOR BUNCH
If you need to get the attention of the record buying public, then a good start would be to stick a flashy motorcycle on your front cover...
It also helps, if the music delivers the killer punch you'd expect.
The music is superb, and The Everything Man looks very pleased that he got to show off his wheels with the custom decal on the petrol tank.
FOLLOW ME - BLACK DEVIL DISCO CLUB
The name of this act was just enough to get me on-board, not sure what to make of the cover though?
I suppose it was the 70's??
NO REGRETS - BLACK DEVIL DISCO CLUB
It was not my intention to use both these tracks, or was it?
These ladies look very prepared for a night out on the town!
I forget who exactly, but I follow one of the Heavyweights of Hip Hop on Twitter, and they recommended giving this album a listen. I'm very glad that I heeded the advice.
UN FAIT DIVERS ET RIEN DE PLUS - LE CLUB
I think this may have cropped up in my recommended listens as I was putting together an earlier mix for the Space themed project (as mentined above)?.
DANCE ACROSS THE FLOOR - JIMMY BO HORNE
I remember hearing this in the night club scene as I watched City Of God. It grabbed my attention immediately as I realised that Deadly Avenger/Ceasefire had been putting it to very good use to make up Caiprinha, the b-side to Evel Knievil.
This Wall Of Sound 12" was very nearly played well over the recommended usage levels, but I'm happy to own a digital version now, and will be wheeling it out for WALL OF MEECH FOUR.
