IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE MADE AWARE WHEN FUTURE PROJECTS BECOME AVAILABLE,
THEN PLEASE
THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE
IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR
THE LOVE OF MUSIC
AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST
BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS
I absolutely love everything I hear from Les McCann at the moment, so expect to hear plenty more in the coming weeks/months/years...
Not sure how I came across this track, but I've been trying to include it for quite some time.
It makes me think of something you'd expect to hear from David Byrne, or one of his contemporaries?
THE WORLD AND THE SUN - MOON DUO
I heard this on an equivalent show by Andrew Weatherall, and thought instantly that it could have been one of his remix projects. As far as I know, it turns out to have nothing to do with his musical input, but it does sound very much like something he'd have a hand in??
Get ready though for a future show of nothing but Weatherall remixes...
ELEPHANT WOMAN - BLONDE REDHEAD
You may remember that I included a track by Blonde Redhead on my very first show NO LEGS 90. I'd been reintroduced to the delights of this band by watching a key episode of Rick & Morty, and will probably have to call on their input again at some stage in the future.
COMPARED TO WHAT - LENNY WILLIAMS
I love the Compared To What standard. Going forward, I'm hoping to utilize many more different versions, including the premium recording by Roberta Flack, leading up to my very favourite on PLANETMEECH 2000 by Jadell.
ACID RAINDROPS - PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS
The comfortable laid back sound of this West Coast Hip Hop act always puts me in a very good frame of mind. As a former colleague pointed out, rather than the familiar Gangsta motif of Californian Rap, you get tales of just hanging out and having a good time.
ALIVE & AMPLIFIED - THE MOONEY SUZUKI
I first heard this on The Jonathan Ross show, before his contract was cancelled by the BBC! I remember him remarking on their 'large' hairstyles in his typical derogatory tone, but the actual song stood out, and prompted me to buy the album the following Monday morning.
Unfortunately, I don't really remember much about the music, but The CD contained a tripped out psychedelic collage that I attached to my cubicle at work. Although, I needed to cover the modesty of the three sensitive areas of the female human form with Chewbacca, Homer Simpson and an Acid Smiley.
I SHOULD BE COMING UP (BUT I KEEP COMING DOWN) - SKY PARADE
This was identified when I was collecting music for my Space themed projects (check the cover to see why), but naturally didn't make the final edit of either show.
Kicking off my Continental Electronica section with a welcome entry from Gui Boratto.
Keeping things current with Mr. Florido.
CANADIAN SUNSET - JIMMY McCRIFF
I consider this perfect for the midway point, and have plucked it from a dedicated Fusion project....Get ready!.
This was identified along with the second track (above) and has been edging ever closer to a show until this point.
I could quite easily catagorize this as either Electronica/Hip Hop/70's SitCom/Gameshow Music, or all of the above??
I've been collecting records by J Saul Cane's DC Recordings for nearly a quarter of a century, so these Death Before Distemper releases are very welcome to my ears.
Not sure how this found it's way on to PLANETMEECH MMXX, it's neither similar to what I'm currently listening to or even reflective of any current new material? I suppose those attributes alone, make it perfect for inclusion here?
This on the other hand ticks both those boxes, and continues in the same vein as the track before.
As above.
Squeezing in this very small recording to use as an interlude and to link between the varying styles of music.
Stringing the genres together to great effect.
I heard this on an equivalent show by a very influential Japanese DJ, and immediately identified it as being worthy of inclusion.
Needless to say that I'm very pleased with the mix leading into the final track.
More from Recloose, who I'm tending to like increasingly with every new discovery.
