IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE MADE AWARE WHEN FUTURE PROJECTS BECOME AVAILABLE,

THEN PLEASE

NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE

IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR

THE LOVE OF MUSIC

AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST

BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS

EASY TIGER (BURGALET & DRAGON) - DEPECHE MODE

Fairly unrecognisable from the original vocal track, but I think that used to be a thing whenever established acts would release singles.

Before physical media was usurped in favour of the digital format, the record companies would capitalise on the guaranteed core fan base with limited edition picture discs, remix e.p.'s and other tat.

I listened to this in the gym yesterday, and was tempted to lift it in favour of using on my forthcoming Bond project...

I think I'd better leave it here though, as I'm probably the only person that would associate it with Bond music?🤔

WE STARTED NOTHING - THE TING TINGS

Another act that I caught on a popular talk show (probably Jonathan Ross).

I really like the way the simple song structure builds, and keeps going.

LIMOUSINE (DUB) - VICARIOUS BLISS

I couldn't resist placing these two together.

LUPINE THEME I / II (READYMADE ALL THAT JAZZ) - YASUYO KONISHI

I picked this up on a complete whim in The Music Exchange in Notting Hill quite some time ago.

I think it's a remix album for the soundtrack to a popular Japanese Animé product, Lupin III?

I remember listening to this quite a bit on my commute, and found it to be quite uplifting as I was changing from bus/tube/train etc.

LOVE ROLLERCOASTER - OHIO PAYERS

I'm very familiar with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers version that features at the beginning of Beavis & Butt-Head Do America - which I admit to watching far too many times.

Thinking about it know makes me want to put it on as soon as I've finished these notes...

MR BIG SUN (FEAT. STEPHANIE McCAY) - BOCA 45

This is an overthrow from my days when the majority of music purchased was from the 'Beats' section of the record store.

COMPARED TO WHAT - ROBERTA FLACK

I'm afraid I'm wheeling this out for the third time now, all by different artists though. The Roberta Flack recording is probably the most well known, but there is an earlier version by Les McCann (who follows) and Eddie Harris (who featured on WHAT'S IN THE AIR FLORIDA?). Get ready for my favourite version, that will be making an appearance on PLANETMEECH 2000, a project that I was working on exactly 20 years ago!

DUNBAR HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND - LES McCANN

I tipped you off fairly recently that Les McCann would be making another appearance, I don't think I'm finished yet. Possibly a dedicated show even - this guy knows how to get a groove on!

I DON'T KNOW WHY - STEVIE WONDER

I included The Rolling Stones recording of this on my second ever journey tape EVIL DEAD II THE BEST COMPILATION, and this version is placed here to close out the first 45 minutes in exactly the same way.

SOUL POWER - WU-TANG CLAN

I'm thinking that the 'candid' chat between Method Man and Flavor Flav sounds a little bit staged, nice to hear about their respective neighbourhoods I suppose.

MASH - J DILLA

Plenty on offer here for future use on other shows...

LUJON - HENRY MANCINI

I'm sure that this found it's way into my library after watching Sexy Beast, but it gets used countless times for many different reasons. The reason I'm incorporating it here, is to ease the transition from Hip Hop to Dub Techno. Whenever listening to this, I always get the feeling of extreme comfort. If I were a dentist or ever found myself required to drill anybody's teeth, then this would be the perfect music to help with any anxiety.

VANTAGE ISLE (CV313) - DEEPCHORD

...the familiar deep space mood, all the while enhancing the comfort levels.

If my dentist played nothing but Deepchord in the background, I'm sure that I would be the proud owner of one of those Hollywood smiles by now?

MOTH - BURIAL & FOUR TET

Picking up the pace slightly.

I came across this on YouTube whilst I was looking for something else not too dissimilar.

CHOCOLATE FUNK - GROOVEMAN SPOT

Chocolate, in any guise is most welcome. As is Funk, in all it's forms.

Another discovery while I was looking for something else, this time on my preferred streaming service.

SHADOW DANCING - ANDY GIBB

No beard, but utilising the recognisable vocal talent that he shares with his brothers.

The Disco rhythm runs deep in this family!

MEMORIES OF JOYCE - BARRY ADAMSON

This guy used to feature from time on my early compilations (BEFORE COMPUTING), so quite pleased to be incorporating him again here.

YOU CAN FALL - BROADCAST

Retro sounding with a modern twist, helping with the Trip Hop feel of this section of songs.

DRAMA - BITTER:SWEET

Sounding very much like Portishead, I'd only just come across this in the last few years. I'm reasonably disappointed that I wasn't aware of their musical output when this sort of thing was popular.

LIFE'S SWIFT CHARGER - PSYCHONAUTS

I think I saw these guys at a live DJ event in a club with Rich Livermore. It was probably fairly close to the time that my memory issues began, so my recollection is quite sketchy. As a consequence, I have always been compelled to purchase anything by them while record shopping, usually in the Mo'Wax section.

The Essential mix from 96 is well worth checking out to hear their mastery of the craft - quite phenomenal!

I'm listening to it again now, and I'm pretty sure that I'll be giving it another dusting off tonight.

FOREVER AND EVER - DEMIS ROUSSOS

I've included this for a number of reasons:

*From a very early age, I would often spend the weekends with my Grandmother, and would regularly commandeer the Music System to play my Adam Ant albums.

I remember the modest stack of records, and was intrigued by this 'old beardy guy' on one sleeve wearing a cowboy hat, but was never swayed from the 'Ant Music' to investigate further.

*I promised my barber, that I'd include something connected to Greece at some stage.

*I was encouraged to investigate further after hearing a sample on Moon Quake 6, from The Orb's MOONBUILDING 2703 AD album.

*I've always been in favour of rounding everything off with something a little different to what has gone before.

I'm still listening to the Psychonauts Essential mix from 96,

and it really is VERY GOOD👍
