This was one of the first records that I bought when I moved to London, not because I was a fan or anything, but simply because I remember Af passing me some material previously. I was presented with riches beyond belief, much like a child with free reign in a sweet shop, I couldn't get away with buying everything I wanted on the spot, so opted for something that I was familiar with.
Early nineties Harthouse is always very welcome listening to my ears. Not so sure the majority R&B/Swing regulars were quite as enthusiastic?
This show has evolved from a purely 90's uptempo Trance mix, to more of a generalized party offering (Trance-House-Deep House-Trance), a tape originally put together for the birthday party of the future Mrs. Planet at LVPO.
HIGH ENERGY PROTONS - JUNO REACTOR
Not sure whether this is better suited to Goa, or a games console?
AN ACCIDENT IN PARADISE - SVEN VATH
The main spoken phrase can wear you down a bit, but it could come across as a bit trance like, that is point after all I suppose.
Something else that I was very familiar with from my early fascination with Electronic music. Selected for it's uptempo slant, and marking the crossover from fairly hefty Trance towards House elements.
Wouldn't be out of place on any of my forthcoming shows with a French theme,
le planetmeech discotheque nouveau or PARIS 90, and continuing with the leaning towards House.
Another name that conjures up images of 'The Great Crossover', the time in our lives when Nirvana/Sonic Youth were getting equal billing on the car stereo along with The Orb and 808 State.
THE WAY - GLOBAL COMMUNICATION
Full on House mode now with the ever eclectic Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard.
Back with it, thanks to Harthouse.
As mentioned on THE JOHN PEEL M3 90, not sure why I didn't dedicate more time listening to these in the 90's.
This track was probably selected as a result of my fondness for nights out in Brixton - whenever we were not meeting up in town.
Stripped back minimal Trance/House, if there is such a thing?
KAT - PLANETARY ASSUALT SYSTEMS
The glaring anomaly here. It's quite refreshing to have a glaring anomaly, but listening to it now, you wouldn't know that it's not of the period.
Luke Slater, in his many differing guises, has always been very popular with me whenever I'm in the mood for acquiring additional music.
Just when you don't expect it, two Warp releases come along at once!
