IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE MADE AWARE WHEN FUTURE PROJECTS BECOME AVAILABLE,

THEN PLEASE

THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE

IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR

THE LOVE OF MUSIC

AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST

BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS

STATIC - DJSS

Kicking things off in the tradition of a typical John Peel show of the mid 90's.

I created this intro a while ago and cannot find the file in my library anywhere?

I've managed to identify the tune, but can't seem to remember just where it came from??

*No link as a result.

MUNDUNGUS - PSYCHEDELIC PORN CRUMPETS

Because of the mystery surrounding the above, I'm having to place this here as the follow up, but it could quite easily work as the opener.

BIG BLACK HOLE - OBLIVIANS

This has been knocking around in various playlists for quite a while now, I'm pretty sure that it should only have ever appeared on this project anyway. So all is well in the universe! Well, in a Meech compilation sense, not sure about everything else???

SEVENTEEN LANDSCAPES - HERON OBLIVION

The late, great John Peel would have been very pleased with himself for using the Oblivion connection for these two acts. The latter was suggested on Kim Gordon's Twitter feed, so should not be overlooked.

The medieval druid type stuff may be a bit off putting, but then the effects pedals take over to restore normality.

LET IT DOWN - GEORGE HARRISON

Whenever I hear this, I'm always imagining that I should be listening to it while reclining on the deck of a private yacht somewhere off the Amalfi Coast. Alas, this could be quite a few years away now as Covid-19 rips across the planet at the current rate.

EMOTIONS - LOVE

Snapping me out of the daydream with this short bridging track layered with the ramblings of an incompetent idiot.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking about the Mayor of Amity Island whenever I see the daily White House briefing, with the insistence of reopening the beaches, sorry, America?

FETCH! - LONDON FUNK ALLSTARS

This featured on one of my 'Go To' record labels (Ninja Tune) in the very late 90's, as I attempted to fill box after box with records, as if they were going out of fashion.......wait a minute.🤔

Get ready for MEECH'S NINJA CUTS 4 to follow some time in this uncertain future?

WYLIN OUT (ORIGINAL) - DIVERSE, MOS DEF & PREFUSE 73

Mos Def featured on one of my 'Go To' record labels (Rawcus) in the early 00's.

Get ready for MEECH'S RAWCUS 4...

DROP TOP CADDY - APHRODITE & MICKY FINN

I think I remember this being mentioned as a 'game changer' in the genre, but cannot find anything to back this up, or for me to elaborate on. It does hold everything together quite well though, so I'm happy to be using it here.

BUNKER BUSTER - KRAFTY KUTS V ED SOLO

I've included this because I unearthed the track lying deep in the recesses of my hard drive.

I came across it again when I was adding links to the web page for last weeks HEAVY PC show, I needed a hyperlink for the Viet Cong track of the same name.

It also works exceedingly well within this current bass heavy segment.

FUNKY AXE - SPAGHETTI HEAD

Transferred from my ever growing library on Shazam, no idea where it came from unfortunately.

I'm really sorry, that doesn't make for very interesting reading, and I apologise for wasting your time.

Hold on, I've just remembered...

During the spring of 2007, I remember deciding, completely on a whim, to take a slightly different route home from the office. I remember it being Spring because I had developed the customary symptoms of pollen fever.

The unfamiliar route took me along a very narrow pathway that was in danger of becoming completely overgrown with shrub-like foliage. This ran parallel to a very strange encampment of temporary structures, the likes of which I had never seen before, even in my wildest imagination.

As I drew closer to these odd looking buildings, I could see that they were actually moving, almost walking? I stood still, transfixed by this unusual scene that greeted me. Then all of a sudden, I could hear very loud music coming from within these 'walking structures'.

I immediately fumbled for my phone in an attempt to quickly document whatever sorcery I was witnessing. In my haste, I inadvertantly dropped the phone into a strange inter dimensional vortex that was emitting an almost other wordly distortion effect.

Then everything went black, including black itself.

*Not much better I'm afraid, but at least I've managed to occupy myself for a few more minutes in this time of enforced social abnormality.

GAS MASK - ED RUSH & OPTICAL

If you converted the Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon game from film to buying records, then I have a Bacon factor of 1 with Optical.

I was once in the same queue at the Music Exchange in Notting Hill.

I wouldn't be able to tell you where Ed Rush buys his records from, I'm not even sure he's a real person??

ALL ABOUT JAZZ - THE COOL BALANCE

Logically linking the 'Nu Jazz' to Drum & Bass, whilst defining the crossover point of the whole 90.

*I detest the term Nu Jazz by the way.

MORTGAGE ON MY SOUL - KEITH JARRETT

From an album of psychedelic Jazz and Soul - guaranteed to get my attention.

I'D KILL FOR HER - THE BLACK ANGELS

Snapping us out of the current Jazz/Drum & Bass/Hip Hop run with a bit of traditional guitar and drum.

OCTOBER FIRES - WOLF PEOPLE

More 'proper music'.

ELI - BOSNIAN RAINBOWS

If you converted the Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon game from film to watching a

television show... no, that doesn't really work.

I remember this being featured on the first series of True Detective, prompting me to add the track to my library straight away.

INCENSE HEAD - PSYCHIC ILLS

All of this current run of tracks have been individually appearing in separate playlists for a few months now. Much like matter floating through space, they have been drawn together to form this new entity.

SHIP OF THE DEAD - HOUSE OF FIRE

This new entity is starting to sound very nostalgic, and quite psychedelic.

MUSHROOM MAN - ROAD

Wouldn't be out of place with the sillier stuff of Pink Floyd.

OPTION 3/DANGEROUS ! - JESSICA RISKER

Wouldn't be out of place with the experimental stuff that John Peel would often play.

The original plan was to use a very melancholic acoustic piece by the same artist, but I think that may have been the very first time I'd have ever featured anything like that on any of my shows.

Probably best not to go down that route?

Maybe get ready for MEECH'S ACOUSTIC MEANDERINGS 4...

If the above has a link, then I'll apologise now. If not, then thankfully I've come to my senses.

PEACHES - THE STRANGLERS

If you can think of a better end to THIS show, I challenge you.

That's not really fair, because any other alternative would not really qualify, as it would then be a slightly different barrel of monkeys altogether.
