THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE
IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR
THE LOVE OF MUSIC
AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST
BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS
*These notes have been ghost written for the screen persona of 'A' Charles Bronson.
I needed some music for the 4-track in my pick-up. The kind of music that could help inspire me when I'm patrolling the streets, looking to right the wrongs that are plaguing our once great city. In The City That Never Sleeps, justice cannot allow itself to sleep! This music is the perfect accompaniment for my unique form of retribution!
TRAMPLED UNDER FOOT - LED ZEPPELIN
I had a real problem convincing people that I had a set of songs that I needed to put together. I selected this by The Led Zeppelins, with the aim of getting planetmeech involved, and hopefully share my vision.
I first came across these guys during my time spent filming in Europe. We were shooting a picture, while they were recording in a studio across the street.
The lead guy, a Mr. Lemmy seemed over the moon to run into me at a local bar.
We exchanged details, but sadly our paths never crossed again - too bad, that would have been just peachy!
Not many people know that I was actually down to appear in a Japanese monster movie. It was all set and even made it to pre production, but sadly never got off the ground.
It would have involved a 40 storey version of myself trashing Osaka or Tokyo.
Unfortunately, my people advised against it, but I think it would have been terrific fun - it's always good to push the envelope.
Once you get past all the beards and sunglasses, and steer clear of those 'well used' songs. You can occasionally come across something pretty good!
SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL - LYNYRD SKYNYRD
I was very nearly employed by the Lynyrds as a 'heavy' for one of the North American tours, but had to pull out at the last minute because we needed to re shoot some scenes for a picture that were considered far too violent by the censors.
WOMAN FROM TOKYO - DEEP PURPLE
You will not believe me when I tell you, but I will tell you anyway...
We used to call Jimmy Coburns stunt double - "The Woman From Tokyo".
You'll have to ask Jim why? Jeez', that's a story...
STREET LADY/WOMAN OF THE NIGHT - URIAH HEEP
I remember attending a live show by the Uriah's, and it was a bloody marvellous night. I did get a little confused though, as Street Lady is one of my favourites, and the guys were really nice when they found out I was there and dedicated this to me. But called it Woman Of The Night???
Evil never sleeps either, that's why I'm constantly ready for trouble!
HIGH STEPPIN' STOMPER - PRIMEVIL
This song makes me sad, even after all these years.
I also once knew a working girl with a serious drug problem, it didn't end well for her either.
This song is just nuts, and guaranteed to raise the pulse.
I was very nearly employed by the Kiss guys as a 'heavy' for one of the North American tours, but had to pull out at the last minute because I'd heard stories that the tours were just too wild, even for me.
WHISKEY IN THE JAR - THIN LIZZY
This is a lovely song, and always makes me think of my Pa for some strange reason?
He didn't even drink whiskey, but I love it!
I'm thinking that some of these may have been recorded in the late 60's, but we were definitely still listening to them all through the 70's.
Michael Winner introduced me to Cactus, probably linking to me because of my earlier work on the Western's, thinking that he was being funny - we had words!
ANTHOLOGY OF DREAMS - ELIAS HULK
This would have been great in one of my more thought provoking pictures...
I bet most people don't know this, but I used to share an apartment with Jack Klugman. Even fewer people will know that he introduced me to the wonders of Irish Coffee. I'm talking about the band. But, we did both enjoy the odd glass of whiskey (straight/no ice and definitely no coffee).
EVIL WOMAN - YESTERDAY'S CHILDREN
I'd like to apologise about the word Evil constantly cropping up in my 'playlist'. Evil exists around all of us, and cannot be forgotten. If you forget about the presence of evil, then you may well forget about the need for an avenger like me.
You may think that I've overlooked the fact that I've already featured Zior previously.
If you have a problem, then we need to talk about it?
I thought I'd include this to break up all the full on music throughout.
If you need a breather - here is your chance!
SILENCE OF THE NIGHT - JERONIMO
This could have been a title for one of my pictures. But when I'm around and I sniff trouble, then the night will be far from silent - that is, until I need to reload.
This is guaranteed to make you feel good.
MR. MAKE BELIEVE - SAMUEL PRODY
This, on the other hand, may not be guaranteed to make you feel any better, but it certainly does gear me up for dealing with another collection of 'street punks', and makes me feel alive in an unhealthy way.
I needed something instrumental to play out as I walk off, in search of my next group of hoodlums.
