THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE

IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR

THE LOVE OF MUSIC

AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST

BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS

CELESTIAL DOORWAYS - BAHRAMJI & SWANN

What are these guys up to? Failing at trying not to look suspicious!

Click the link above to see what I mean.

The actual music sets things up nicely for the craziness to follow...

AYEE MORSHUME BE-RAHAM DUNIYA - RUPA

I'd better apologise now, this will stick in your head for days.

Whilst putting this latest instalment together, I've unearthed an entirely new strand of music, to me anyway - Indian Disco Jazz, and I'm loving it!

DHARMATMA THEME PT.1 (INSTRUMENTAL) - KALANJI-ANANDJI

YES!

STREETS OF CALCUTTA - ANANDA SHANKAR

Fusing the traditional Indian sounds with the contemporary western influences once again. His cover of Jumpin' Jack Flash appeared on my very first Indian themed mix many years ago, but replaced here because it seems to have been played in virtually every Indian restaurant in the world - I even heard it playing in Miami!

LOVER'S PARADISE - SUTRASONIC

More Breaks & Beats from the Sutrosonic album, this time accompanied by an insane backwards female vocal sample.

THE MOD TRADE - THE BLACK BEATS

This could stand it's ground on a Standard/Non Standard show.

One of my personal favourites of this mix.

LATIN TALA - PAUL HORN AND NEXUS

Calming everything down in the fashion you'd expect at the midway point, I'm not sure why it's not sat in the centre, but it sort of works here.

PAUL'S FUNKY CAB - BOMBAY GROOVY

I came across this on YouTube as part of a live studio performance. Fortunately, I was able to include this version to match the non live quality of the other recordings.

RAGA BAIRAGI - SHANKAR-JAIKSHAN

Another one of my personal favourites.

THROW DOWN - ANANDA SHANKAR & STATE OF BENGAL

Ananda's still fusing sounds for us...

DUM MARO DUM - THE BOLLYWOOD BRASS BAND

Something fairly dramatic to bring the curtain down at the end of the first half.

THE CHASE - SUTRASONIC

Something fairly dramatic to kick start the second half.

I AM THAT TYPE OF BASMARSH - BADMARSH

A crazy little number to keep things moving.

FREEDOM FROM THE KNOWN - LOOP GURU

I'm quite pleased with the transition between the two tracks.

DANCE DANCE - SALMA AGHA

I came across this also on YouTube, but have included the digital version for consistancy.

BOOM BOOM - NAZIA HASSAN

As above, I'm also very keen to catch the two films that these feature in at some stage.

AAJ SHANIBAR - RUPA

Rounding of the Disco segment with the enchanting voice of Rupa once again.

SEQUENCE 36 - GP REVERBI

Used here to blend between the 70's Indian Disco and the Bollywood Psychedelia.

YEH MERA DIL YAAR KA DIWANA - ASHA BHOSLE

Asha Bhosle fulfilling her contractual obligations once again. She must have been the hardest working woman in the Indian music industry?

DHARMATMA THEME PT.4 (INSTRUMENTAL) - KALYANJI

Bookending (not quite) with the earlier segment of the score from this film.

INDIAN VIBES - MATHAR

I've been looking for this ever since my first CURRY MADNESS - HOT (LOUNGE).

It featured on the mix I did for Fleet Tandoori several years ago, and has been lost ever since the break-in. I can finally use it here, as the final track.
