This would make a pretty good alternate Soundtrack to The Keep ('83).
I have no problem with the Tangerine Dream score, it does seem very Michael Mann, so quite fitting. I'm a big fan of The Keep by the way, ever since recording it from the tv broadcast many years ago. I even sampled bits of the dialogue for a couple of my Glastonbury travel cassettes.
Fairly recent solid Acid in the tradition of solid 80's Acid.
The obligatory Soma release.
MEECH'S SOMA 4 is still in the very early stages, I've been holding off committing it to a mix until I have all the tracks locked in.
Not released through Soma as far as I can tell, but I do remember hearing a mix by YYYY on Slam Radio.
No obvious Soma connection, you'll have to agree that it does fit in rather well with the atmosphere I'm trying to create. Probably best not to listen to this if you ever find yourself trapped in a cave deep underground with zero light.
On a slightly cheerier note.....
STONE EDGE (PÄR GRINDVIK REMIX) - FELIX K
I love this, and originally had it closing out the mix. Moving it to close out the first 45 minutes heads off the possibility of missing out all together, if the full 90 minutes is not for you.
These tunes deliberatly set out to entice me. I'm yet to come across anything called Meech, surely that would also get a pass, even if it was of the Country & Western genre. Maybe Not?
O-TON REASSEMBLED 7 - LUKE SLATER
No mix of this sort of thing would be complete without an appearance by Luke Slater.
This was included at a very early stage, and did appear much further up the order on an early draft.
I DREAM OF MIDI - SAMULI KEMPPI
Ha! A midi nightmare, at midnight!
Fortunately, no such problems for me. If I did, I would not remember them anyway?
ECLECTIC ILLUSION - D. CARBONE
From the Acid Futurism e.p. with the title track that proved just too dark for this mix.
Not really, I just couldn't get it to fit properly.
From an e.p. with quite a silly name that also features different entries by Samuli Kemppi and Yan Cook, so in good company it would appear?
I've just typed in Ant On A Rubber Rope to see if it had any significance before I make a complete fool of myself, and it's worth a click if you're not already aware.
I don't think I'd ever come across it before, and I'm glad I have now.
The cover for this release looks suspiciously similar to my BUTTERFLY ATTACK artwork. I'm fairly certain that it didn't influence me, I know how George Harrison must have felt.
HOLDING A WOLF BY THE EARS - UVB
Actually a UVB remix for the last artists, but I'm happy to overlook the rule infringement.
THE SURVIVORS - MATRIXXMAN & PHYSICAL THERAPY
From a release that could have been inspired by Threads ('84).
Now that is pretty dark also!
