Exactly what I look for when kick-starting a new project, even better when I'm in the mood for compiling music suitable for a possible planetmeech social gathering.
I'm fairly certain that this was the very first track to be included here, then everything else started to attach itself to the working playlist.
I'd originally planned to have another track from the same e.p. as above, but thankfully discarded that idea in favour of this entry.
Changing the tone slightly from the initial urgency of the opening two tracks.
I remember Developer from listening to the weekly Slam Radio show by Soma Records/Slam.
ALL HOPE FADES - ALAN FITZPATRICK
Another contemporary of the above, and I'm pleased to find out that he's from Southampton! 👍
DIVINER - SECRET CINEMA & SAMA
(One) of the stand out tracks from an A-Sides compilation by Drumcode.
ISOLATION - CLERIC & SETAOC MASS
Isolation's not for everybody, but it could lead to all sorts of interesting possibilities.
O-TON REASSEMBLED 1 - LUKE SLATER
I came across this very recently by following a link on Luke Slater's Twitter feed and knew instantly that I had to include something, regardless of my very recent dedicated 7th Plain project. A cracking way to bring the curtain down on the first forty five minutes!
I inadvertently ended up with two S File entries in the same mix, it took several attempts to get the transitions to a level I was happy with, so didn't really want to remove either track. Using both to open each half does just about work in terms of structure, but I'll endeavour not to repeat that again going forward.
PARANOID STATE (TURBO TURBO MIX) - MESSIAHWAITS
A paranoid state is not for everybody, but it could lead to all sorts of interesting possibilities.
Another Soma connection, and brought to my attention via Slam Radio. This actually appeared on a Visions compilation that also features Slam/Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle... the creators of Soma Quality Recordings and Slam Radio.
Sleeparchive also appeared on one of the weekly Slam Radio broadcasts.
As above.
This current run of tracks remind me in a very big way of the very first Slam mix I would play in my car. If you were lucky enough to be a passenger en-route to a nightspot that played loud music, then I guarantee we would have been listening to that mix (it was the only one I had at the time).
As above.
I couldn't put this mix together without including at least one track by Slam.
Slam radio heavily influenced me to start converting my old travel compilations to this current format.
I've been adding Soma 12"s, albums, and more recently digital files to my collection for many years. I also featured a track by Slam on my first ever vinyl mix.
