THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE

IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR

THE LOVE OF MUSIC

AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST

BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS

WALKING ON SUNSHINE - ROCKERS REVENGE

Another tune that was put on repeat several years back to annoy, but has now taken on a completely different meaning. Always makes me smile whenever I hear it at an unexpected location, (Indian restaurant, retail outlet, sports venue....).

THE ROOSTER - OUTKAST

Not the most radio friendly offering from Outkast, but The Rooster undoubtedly lets everybody know that it is morning.

GET UP, STAND UP - BOB MARLEY

I've only used quite a small portion of this classic track, not because I don't fully like it, but because it's not really that kind of show.

Ever since my very early compilations for the car, I often chopped together different bits of songs to fit more onto a 45 minute side of a tape.

No need to elaborate on why I've used this.

TOAST - TOAST

No idea how this ended up in my library. Maybe the Ai algorithm is getting so advanced now, that my future projects have already been predicted far in advance.

That's a good thing I think, for now.

CORNFLAKE - PSYCHEDELIC PORN CRUMPETS

Two for the price of one here from a band I've featured a couple of times on my Standard/Non Standard mixes.

HASH AND EGGS - THE BLACKBYRDS

Donald Byrd's contribution to the breaking of the fast.

SAFE AS MILK - CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC BAND

This was one of the first tracks I thought of when compiling songs for this particular mix, quite glad to be including it for a valid reason, and not just because its a Captain Beefheart song.

WALKING THE DOG - MICHAEL KNIGHT & GIANO

Not the biggest fan of this activity, as the scar on my chin would attest to, dogs have the habit of running up to me and tripping me over.

Although I'm not keen, it would appear that a great many people are.

Most definitely a pass-time associated with morning rituals it would appear.

MILK AND HONEY - BECK

If the music thing doesn't continue to work out for Beck, he could always fall back on his uncanny likeness to Thurston Moore, and become a Thurston Moore impersonator.

That may not be as lucrative compared to looking like George Michael, Mr T, Lady Di or French & Saunders. But he won't know unless he tests the market.

WAKE UP - BRAND NUBIAN

This action could relate to practically any time of day for me.

I have a real talent for sleeping!

HOOPS - THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS

Cereal maybe? I suspect not.

Probably more likely that we're talking basketball or looped music patterns.

EGG RAID ON MOJO - BEASTIE BOYS

From their Hardcore years, a time before the transition to Hip-Hop.

AND YOUR BIRD CAN SING - THE BEATLES

I'm fairly sure that birds don't really sing that much after lunch, they could be resting after a particularly heavy meal.

WAKING UP - BITTER:SWEET

I'm pretty certain that I wasn't aware of these when this type of thing was all the rage. Shame, because I would have been all over it at the time.

STRAWBERRY JAM - INTASTELLA

I can confirm that I was all over these at the time. This b-side was drafted in to replace similar named Funk workouts from two of the heaviest hitters, this had more zip to it though.

EARLY MORNING - JUNGLE BROTHERS

From the Alex Gifford (Propellerheads) produced album, fully designed to relieve me of some cash.

THE MORNING AFTER - COUNTER PLAN

In my library thanks to Soma Quality Recordings.

I FEEL ON THE WAGON - SLY & ROBBIE + AMP FIDDLER

Amp Fiddler has featured occasionally for a while now, as has Sly & Robbie, so this link up is very welcome. The association to morning though is probably asking a little too much.

CAJUN TWISTERS - ADAM ANT

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahhahhahahh.

I listened to this album an awful lot when I was a very small person, not really knowing what Cajun Twisters were. I'd always assumed that Mr Goddard was referencing some kind of savoury breakfast treat.

I'm still not entirely sure what he's singing about, but from what I've managed to learn about the World in the time since, I would guess they are regional dancers from the Deep South of the US, Louisiana possibly.

UNWASHED & SOMEWHAT SLIGHTLY DAZED - DAVID BOWIE

This could be aluding to any time of day, but much more likely that it refers to the moment you first wake up, which usually is the morning.

THE BREAKFAST CONSPIRACY - PIGFACE

Always good to include a bit of Pigface.

Convention tells us to eat certain types of food depending on what time of day it is.

I wonder if we really have been lied to all this time.

11:59 - BLONDIE

Still technically the morning.

MOURNING AIR - PORTISHEAD

Not technically the kind of morning we're referring to, but I think the majority of this type of mourning is conducted before midday.

DONUTS (OUTRO) - J DILLA

Mmmmm, doughnuts.
