BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS
SILVER RAIN FELL (MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO MIX) - SCORN
The opening track from an essential album that accompanied my later 90's driving escapades.
This mix is completely new to me, so very welcome whenever listening to this show, and working with the theme and tying in particularly well with other tracks. However, I've managed to carefully chop this slightly, and speed it up a fraction to help with the urgency at the beginning.
DAZE IN DUB (98.7 KISS FM MIX) - THE ORB
Back of the net!
The Orb, along with Renegade Soundwave and Scorn are responsible for me embarking on this project in the first place!
Many thanks to those mentioned for igniting my interest in this very specific production technique all those years ago.👍
STRAP DOWN (PARTS) - MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO
Both scorn and this act typify the pounding onslaught of this brand of Dub.
Still bearing the undercurrent of the trademark crunching Dub heavy bass, whilst moving up a few gears.
(I'm fairly pleased with this mix, it did take quite a bit of funking around with).
RIGHT ON, RIGHT ON (NICK CURLY MIX) - SILICONE SOUL
I listen to a lot of Soma, and this track was selected at an early stage for this project.
Until I started writing these notes, I had wrongfully assumed that Eon was an early alias of J Saul Kane.
Thankfully, I can now rest easy in the knowledge that they are two separate entities, but that they may have existed in the same slot at quite a few record stores.
Eon were on Vinyl Solution, which developed into DC recordings, so both shared the same retail space - mystery solved!
Depth Charge could quite easily fall in to the Beats/Breaks category, and Eon most definitely Rave, of which, this is neither.
This track tipped the scale in my decision to proceed with this project.
Another, lesser known alias of Luke Slater, who has featured very frequently throughout my various shows.
NIGO, who has also featured frequently, using here all the familiar hallmarks of classic Dub.
WOMEN RESPOND TO BASS - RENEGADE SOUNDWAVE
From another album that was indispensable in my car.
BOOSTER - PLANETARY ASSUALT SYSTEMS
Yet another alias of Luke Slater, I think this is probably a little more 'mainstream' than L.B. Dubcorp?
I'd included this at an early stage of the project, and was encouraged further, when I heard it randomly being used (not by Luke Slater) on another Mixcloud show that Slam Radio put out.
TEACH THE DEVIL'S SON - DEADBEAT/FENIN
I'm fairly certain that these last few tunes popped up in my my library as a result of listening to Luke Slater in whatever guise?
DETACHED OBJECT - SAMULI KEMPPI
As above.
9 YEARS (DJ KOZE MIX) - ROMAN FLüGEL
This starts with the familiar Dub sound, so in it goes...
Linking with the last track quite well, and consciously opting to include anything called Radio.
I have a feeling that Schwanbeck has made an appearance on an earlier show, but I’ll have to confirm that...
Of course.... THE 90 MINUTE DUB TECHNO RUNDOWN.
This show does share many similarities with the above, but the selections are much less deep and not quite as immersive.
Easily slotting in at the end, could justifiably have appeared on THE 90 MINUTE DUB TECHNO RUNDOWN.
