BROOTLE

This is taken from the Tiny Reminders triple album that I picked up new exactly 20 years ago (2000).

It was presented over three 12" discs, and I was really keen on listening to the complete album as a whole, without the need to keep flipping between the 6 sides. Although, by this time, I did own a couple of entry level decks.

My Minidisc player was still operational at this point, so was my preferred way of listening to the full album as a continuous experience.

The Tiny Reminders album was extremely significant in my record buying era, and led me to pick up many further purchases (below).

GLIDE BY SHOOTING

On the subject of further purchases...

This was in fact an earlier release, but I picked up a second hand white label, so wasn't even aware of the exact e.p./album it was promo-ting.

NO RED STOPPING

I don't actually remember buying this album at all, but I know that I did, so I suspect it was more than likely just before 30th March 1999!

FLOSSIE WEARS PACO AND RALPH

Also from the above mentioned Promo, I now know that it was a pre release for the Swimming Not Skimming e.p., which I had not even heard in it's entirety until only a few years ago.

DON'T CALL IT JERK

As above.

SLUTLOOP

I've only just rediscovered this track as I was trawling through my hard drives whilst putting this mix together. I'd completely forgotten all about it, and have probably not listened to the tune for nearly twenty years!

Back in 1998, the free cd attached to the front of the music magazine Jockey Slut, was just enough for me to invest in a bit of light reading that centred on Dance music and club culture. This initially caught my eye due to it featuring tracks by David Holmes, Lionrock, The Chemical Brothers, and two Daft Punk mixes. All of which were fairly high up on my agenda around this time.

I was desperate to include Slutloop with this selection because of it's uniqueness, I'm guessing that it was probably produced specifically for the magazine, and has never surfaced anywhere else?

RICO'S HELLY

This was on my first ever Two Lone Swordsmen purchase.

I think that I may have even picked it up on the strength of the sleeve.

Although, knowing the connection to Andrew Weatherall may have helped.

SPIN DESIRE

This track featured on the Andrew Weatherall Back To Basics mix that I would play in my car continuously in the late 90's.

I hadn't listened to that a great deal either since my self imposed driving ban.

That mix is probably my absolute favourite of his, so was one of the first things I listened to when I heard the tragic news last week.

I was pleasantly surprised because I must have subconsciously included it here as well.

NEUFLEX

Another track taken from Tiny Reminders, an album that I would recommend without hesitation to anybody with access to the digital format.

I would also highly recommend listening to it on vinyl as well, if you don't mind flipping between the 6 sides. No A to F though, the sides are marked T to ERS.

STICKY

I used to play this and another track from The Bag Of Blue Sparks album at a slightly lower pitch, but have opted not to do this here to aid with the flow.

KIST

This is from an e.p. (A Virus With Shoes), it closes with a track called 'Our Kid's Berwick'. I'm not sure about the specific relevance of any of these titles, but I would guess at it referencing the cover of 'What's The Story Morning Glory?'

I also picked this record up in The Music Exchange on that very street.

The e.p.'s name is quite topical at the moment by relating to current global events.🦠

STACK UP

This album marked a radical change in approach to their musical output. This track however, didn't give too much away for what lay ahead.

RICO'S HELLECTRO

One more track from my well used white label promo.

BIG MAN ORIGINAL

This was also on my first purchase, and it featured on a Richard Sen mix that I came across when I first moved to London. That mix was also played whenever the above mentioned Back To Basics show was 'rested'.

BLUE FLAMES

These last tracks did prove quite difficult to incorporate in this mix, placing at the end though hopefully pulls it off.

From what I can tell, the later albums that feature traditional guitar, vocal, and live drums did not prove as popular as their Electronic material.

These were not albums that I bought either, but that was down to moving to a smaller property, and not being able to buy as much vinyl.

GET OUT OF MY KINGDOM

Quite poignant to end with an Andrew Weatherall vocal performance.
