BELOW YOU WILL FIND LINKS TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS ALONG WITH BASIC NOTES EXPLAINING MUSICAL CHOICES AND INSPIRATIONS
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE MADE AWARE WHEN FUTURE PROJECTS BECOME AVAILABLE,
THEN PLEASE
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS
NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE
IT HAS BEEN DONE PURELY FOR
THE LOVE OF MUSIC
AND WE ARE HAVING AN ABSOLUTE BLAST
It is with great sadness that I'm sharing this mix!
Apart from being a key figure in defining an era, Andrew Weatherall has provided me with much listening enjoyment over the years.
I would, without the slightest shadow of doubt, put him on a pedestal with John Peel.
This project has been in the pipeline for a while now, but I've replaced my intended Public Enemy show with this for obvious reasons.
SILVER SURFER, GHOST RIDER GO!!! - TRENTMØLLER
Known for his eclectic love of music, this selection really shows off his diversity.
I've just decided to put together a 'premix' version of this show to emphasise this further, and to contrast with his mastery.
IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT - NOEL GLLAGHER'S HGH FLYING BIRDS
This should be interesting, a chance to get out of my comfort zone?
I'm just listening to the original version of this for the first time, I'm really looking forward to putting the Premix project together now...
As above, and even further from that zone.
The algorythms that control will find it increasingly difficult to predict my next move...
I've had to dig deep to bring you any info on this entry, but what I've found does suggest that there may be some more treats to follow...
I managed to find this on the Phonica Records website ; "A symbol of a more innocent age, a woozy look back into childhood, a blissed out album of reflective songcraft, tinged with time-lapse psychedelia and shot through with hazy fairground ephemera".
Right, that's done the trick, I've just added the self titled album to my library. I hope it lives up to that flowery description.
Included for my most dedicated listener.
Even with the Weatherall touch, it still sounds unmistakably New Order.
Andrew Weatherall remixing Slam is akin to Prince recording the next official Bond theme, or Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso both racing for Ferrari....
Sadly, these outlandish fantasies will never happen now, but at least I can still enjoy this remix.
All that aside, it's actually credited as a Two Lone Swordsmen mix.
SPEED OF DARK - EMILÍANA TORRINI
I hope to put something by this lady in one of my Standard/Non Standard mixes that will be coming very soon.
PEELED APPLES - MANIC STREET PREACHERS
I've never really been a fan of the recorded output of this act, but I have seen them live once or twice, and fully appreciated their talent.
This, on the other hand, offers a completely new dimension of appreciation.
LIKE A MACHINE - THE EMPEROR MACHINE
Andrew Weatherall remixing The Emperor Machine is akin to Timothy Dalton remaking On Her Majesty's Secret Service...🤣
Two out and out Welsh entries on the same mix!
Just a shame that I didn't manage to get them to flow together.
Haa!
That transition is the reason for this current sequence.
I remember this used to get played quite a bit by the DJ's between bands at several festivals during my attending days. Probably just before Primal Scream or The Orb?
This is widely regarded as one of his best remix efforts, possibly even the best remix by anyone, ever?
